Es también un momento oportuno para cuestionar y desafiar algunos de los mitos que aún persisten respecto a su labor.
Más allá de la psicoterapia: diversidad en el ejercicio profesional
Es común escuchar que los psicólogos solo se dedican a la psicoterapia, pero la realidad es mucho más diversa. Aunque el ámbito clínico es uno de los más conocidos, las y los profesionales de la psicología se desenvuelven en múltiples áreas, aportando sus conocimientos en:
- Educación: forman parte de equipos técnicos en instituciones educativas, colaborando en la orientación y apoyo de estudiantes de todos los niveles.

Otro mito frecuente es que los psicólogos solo trabajan con personas adultas. Sin embargo, su campo de acción abarca desde la infancia hasta la vejez, abordando situaciones individuales, familiares y grupales. Ya sea en un consultorio, una escuela, una empresa o una comunidad, las y los psicólogos están capacitados para acompañar a personas en cualquier etapa de su vida, adaptando sus enfoques a las particularidades de cada contexto.
La salud mental es un derecho, no un lujo
Uno de los estereotipos más dañinos es la idea de que «si vas al psicólogo es porque estás loco/a». Este prejuicio invisibiliza el valor que tiene el acompañamiento terapéutico en múltiples situaciones de la vida: desde la gestión de duelos, crisis vitales, ansiedades o situaciones de violencia, hasta el desarrollo personal.
